Mount Batur Sunrise Hike ToursAn Independent Guide Check Availability

About Mount Batur Sunrise Hike Tours

An independent comparison of the guided trips that climb Mount Batur for sunrise, in the Kintamani caldera in eastern Bali. We compare live tour listings, official volcano bulletins and recent traveller feedback. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours, hold no bookings and run no vehicles. The trips sit on the Mount Batur sunrise hike tours comparison, and every number on this site carries the month it was last read.

Why this site exists

Search for this volcano and you get two kinds of page. Operator sites that describe a spectacular sunrise and stop there, and blog posts written after one visit, some of them years old, still quoting prices that have moved and a hiking ban that never took effect.

What is missing is the boring comparison. Which listing picks you up at 01:30 and which at 02:30. Which one caps the group at five. What the permit actually costs if you tried to arrange the morning yourself, and why that is not cheaper. What you will be asked to pay for on the summit that no ticket covers. None of it is secret — it is in the operators' own small print, in the trekking association's rules and in PVMBG's daily bulletins. Putting it next to the price is the whole job of this site.

Where the facts come from

Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions, pickup schedules and age limits are read off each operator's own live listing on the date shown, in US dollars. Every tour carries the same fields in the same order. Tour listings checked: August 2026.

Volcano status comes from PVMBG's daily bulletin published through MAGMA Indonesia — Level I (Normal) in the report dated 25 August 2026 — and is quoted with its date rather than summarised. Permit and guide fees, hot-spring gate prices and the trekking association's rules are checked against local operator pricing and recent visitor reports, and dated where they appear. Climate figures come from the 2016–2025 ERA5 reanalysis for the trailhead area rather than a coastal forecast, because a Bali beach temperature tells you nothing about sitting still on a rim at 05:30.

Where an operator states something inconvenient in its own words — dark sections of trail, wild macaques, an extra charge for pickup outside the core zone — we quote it rather than smooth it over. Review quotes keep the reviewer's first name, country and travel month exactly as published. We do not write testimonials.

What we do not do

We have not climbed with every operator on this page. We do not inspect vehicles, meet guides, audit safety equipment or verify licences beyond repeating what the association and the listings state.

We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs, not ours.

How the site pays for itself

Links to tours here are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay exactly what you would pay going there directly.

That arrangement funds the research and nothing else. It does not decide which tours appear, in what order, or what we say about them. Our pick is not the listing that pays most: the most expensive tour on the page earns the largest commission, and the one we point most visitors at costs less and wins on group size.

Corrections

Prices in Bali move, permit fees change and volcanoes are monitored for a reason. If something here is out of date, write to us with what you found and when you were there. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
